1/21/2009administrator

Author: Murray Bridge PR Mark Brown, Australia’s most successful Speedcar driver over the last two seasons, is fired up and ready to take on the onslaught of American talent at this year’s Australian Speedcar Championship at Murray Bridge Speedway! Having challenged eventual winner Jerry Coons Jnr of Arizona at the 06/07 title at Charlton Raceway Toowoomba in one of the finest races most Speedcar fans have ever witnessed; only to drop out of the 07/08 title at the Perth Motorplex the following year with damage; the Browndog is once again putting on his race-face for Australia’s toughest Speedcar event. “We came so close in Toowoomba but Jerry beat us over the line… We don’t want that happening again!" said the enthusiastic Brown. BCRA at the Chili Bowl
1/19/2009administrator

Saturday Night: 2004 Champion Thomas Meseraull was the only driver with a BCRA history to make it past the 292 entries to compete in the A-Main Event. Having transferred from the B-Main, Meseraull started 20th in the 24 car field. He moved up a number of positions during the race, but nudged another car in the third turn and spun, then came back and place 16th. Three-time BCRA Champion Glenn Carson attempted to make the A-Main from his B-Main 7th starting position and was running well until he was hit in the third turn, resulting in a blown tire and shock damage. A new left rear wheel was installed in time to make it back into the race, where he finished 14th, but out of a transfer position. A note of interest - A.J. Bray, the grandson of BCRA’s Pete Bray and son of former BCRA car...more

1/18/2009administrator

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (January 17, 2009) – Sammy Swindell put the finishing touches on a perfect week by racing to victory lane in Saturday night's 23rd Annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire 50-lap championship feature event, besting an event record of 281 competitors. After slipping back as far as fifth for a brief moment at the race's midway point, the Tennessee shoe took to the upper reaches of the QuikTrip Center's ¼-mile Tulsa Expo Raceway clay oval and blitzed to the head of the pack in short order, taking the lead away from Tracy Hines on the 34th circuit. "To pull this off the way we did, to be undefeated here in every race, it was fun," Swindell commented afterward. "We had a great car and a lot of good fortune that we didn't get in...more

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (January 16, 2009) – Arizona native Jerry Coons, Jr., took center stage by topping the fourth and final qualifying card on Friday night at the 23rd Annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire. The reigning USAC Sprint Car and Silver Crown champion gunned into the lead at the outset and kept the Toyota-powered Wilke-PAK Motorsports Speedway Motors No. 11 Spike out front for the entire 25-lap distance atop the QuikTrip Center's Tulsa Expo Raceway ¼-mile clay oval. Coons was chased to the stripe by Levi Jones in Tony Stewart's Kistler-powered Chevy/Bass Pro Shops No. 20 Spike, representing a flip-flop of Thursday night's first and second finishing car owners.
