CLAUSON GOES FOR MIDGET “GRAND SLAM” AT ORP Bryan Clauson of Noblesville, Ind. stands on the virge of a USAC Midget “Grand Slam” as he prepares for the May 29 “Night Before the 500” classic at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, Ind. Clauson has strung together back-to-back-to-back victories in three races with tradition dating to pre-1980 and could add the fourth jewel with a May 29 win at ORP. Last May Clauson won the prestigious Belleville (Kansas) Midget Nationals, then added the “Turkey Night Grand Prix” at Irwindale, Calif. in November. This past May 8 Clauson won the “Hut Hundred” at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind. Nobody has ever won all four of these events in succession. BILLY PAUCH Jr. USES HIS MASTERY OF GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY TO GRAB HIS SECOND ARDC MIDGET WIN OF THE SEASON The Midgets of the American Drivers Racing Club visited Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA for the first time Saturday night and it was speedway Modified regular, Billy Pauch Jr. coming away with the win. At the start of the feature, before most of the field even crossed the Start Finish Line, a flip by Mike Miller stopped the action. Also involved were Point Leader, Steve Buckwalter, who had to be towed to the pits and Steve Lenig who was able to continue with a severely bent shock. “BOOT HILL SHOWDOWN” FRIDAY-SATURDAY AT DODGE CITY The 2010 USAC/SMRS Great Plains Midget Series resumes this weekend with back-to-back events at Dodge City (Kans.) Raceway Park. Brad Loyet, who won last year’s inaugural USAC/SMRS title, has a 22-point lead over Don Droud Jr. going into the Dodge City races. Zach Daum, USAC’s 2009 Mopar National Midget “Rookie of the Year,” is third in the standings, only 32 back. The Friday and Saturday night “Boot Hill Showdown” races continue a tradition of USAC racing in the Sunflower state which dates back to a 1957 race at Wichita, Kans. won by Bob Tattersall. Raceway and Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah, The Western Ford Focuses and Young Guns compete at Ventura, while the Utah Ford Focus series continues at the Salt Lake City oval. REGIONAL MIDGETS EYE MAY 26 “JOHN ANDRETTI NIGHT;” DALTON ARMSTRONG WINS “PRUETT MEMORIAL” AT CMS “John Andretti Night” is slated at the Indianapolis Speedrome May 26 and Dalton Armstrong of New Castle, Ind. will take the early USAC Regional Midget point lead into that event after winning Saturday night’s “Alex Pruett Memorial” at the Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway. Armstrong is the early point leader in both the 2010 USAC Regional and USAC/WOMS Midget Series as a result of his 30-lap Columbus victory. Armstrong trailed Dillon Welch for three laps, then took the lead in his Bungee North America/Anderson’s Grain Beast/Mopar.
